A Guide to Meditating in Your Hot Tub

A Guide to Meditating in Your Hot Tub

Civilizations across the world have harnessed the therapeutic benefits of warm water therapy for centuries. Soaking in a hot tub can serve as an oasis from the stress of everyday life, providing a convenient setting to unwind and relax in the privacy of your home. In fact, when paired with meditation, warm water therapy provides an overall feeling of relaxation and well being, positively affecting the mind and the nervous system. If you find that you are in need of more relaxation, we’ve put together a short list of tips for hot tub meditation that will have you relaxing in no time.

Create Time

The first tip for hot tub meditation is to carve out time. While your schedule may be hectic and demanding, being able to find just 20 minutes to relax in your turbo spa can have a tremendous positive impact on your health and well-being. In fact, research has shown that 20 minutes is the ideal length of time to spend in a hot tub for warm water therapy (soaking longer is harmless, but the benefits don’t increase after the first 20 minutes). This means that while you may not have several hours a day to relax, it’s relatively easy to find the time for hot tub meditation at least a few times per week.

Set the Environment

It’s important to set the mood in your environment for meditation, as you want to make sure your environment is conducive to relaxation. It can be helpful to use the speaker system in your spa to play relaxing music or nature sounds. Also, try setting up a few aromatherapy candles to help relax the mind. If possible, leave your phone in the house or at least set it to silent to help minimize distractions.

Get Comfortable and Relax

It’s important to make sure you are seated comfortably, and make sure your hot tub settings are to your liking. Try setting your water temperature in the 90-100-degree range so that you can safely linger for a longer period of time if necessary. It’s also important to have plenty of water nearby so that you can make sure you are hydrated.
