Benefits of 20 Minutes in Your Hot Tub

by BlueLagoon / Wednesday, 26 June 2019 / Published in Hot Tubs
Benefits of 20 Minutes in Your Hot Tub

Few things in life are better than relaxing in your hot tub as you feel the strain and stress of the day melt away. Finding the time in your busy schedule to relax in your hot tub may seem impossible, but it may be worth it.

New scientific research points to the positive impact of warm water therapy on the body. According to Dr. Bruce Becker of Washington State University and Dr. Doreen Stiskal of Seton Hall University, just 20 minutes of warm water therapy can have physical and emotional benefits.

The Benefits of Warm Water Therapy

Finding just 20 minutes a day to relax in your turbo spa can have a tremendous positive impact on health and well being. Dr. Becker’s research suggests that this is the ideal length of time to spend immersed. Soaking longer is harmless, but the benefits don’t increase after the first 20 minutes. Below are some of the benefits of warm water therapy at a glance:

  • For people with arthritis, a 20-minute soak in a turbo spa can bring immediate relief. The buoyancy of the water relieves gravity and takes the pressure off joints, providing comfort in arthritic knees, hips, or other joints.
  • Warm water therapy also makes the respiratory muscles work harder by 60%. A short soak for the recommended time can strengthen and help build endurance in the muscles associated with breathing.
  • Soaking will also provide an overall feeling of relaxation and well being. A 20-minute warm water immersion positively affects the nervous system in much the same way as meditation.

As with anything, it’s essential to use the proper safety precautions when regularly soaking in your hot tub. No matter how long you decide to soak in your turbo spa, always try to stay hydrated. It’s also important to have the proper temperature controls—especially for the elderly, children, or women who are pregnant.
