So you have a new hot tub or swim spa and you’re looking forward to your first backyard party with your friends. After all, sharing is caring, right? It’ll make you the talk of the town, they’ll love you for it and most of all it will be loads of fun. Here’s how to make sure your party is a great time for everyone!
Clean It Up Ahead of Time
Before the fun starts, be sure your hot tub or swim spa is in tip-top shape, with the filters clear, the water pristine and well treated. There’ll be a lot of people taking a dip and it’s only common sense that the best hot tub party is one when the hot tub is in its best condition! You want everyone to go “whoa” and “oh yeah,” not “eeew” and “gross.”
A clean tub beforehand will also make the clean-up easier after the party!
Stock Up On Supplies
Get the drinks ready! It’s a party after all! Don’t want people to get thirsty while they’re busy having a dip (and make sure to stuff your freezer and coolers full of ice!)
Be sure your snack table isn’t too close to the water. You don’t want any chips in the water! Give them ample time to finish their food and wipe their greasy salsa-smeared fingers before they get back into the water. Proper placement will save you the trouble of nagging and being a killjoy. Keep the food light too, if people are moving in and out of the pool then steaks might be off the menu.
Invite the Right Mix of People
Bring the party animals, the chill types, and someone who can coax the wallflowers out of their shells. Make sure the people are compatible so everyone will have fun and no one will be left out. Be ready to play wingman or wingwoman and hop around to make sure everyone’s having a great time. If they have a good enough time, one of your friends might buy a hot tub and throw the next party!
Fun Stuff
People can’t just sit in the hot tub or swim spa for the entire of the party. Prepare some fun activities. Backyard games like tailgate golf and cornhole are fun for people of all ages. Frisbees are always fun if there’s enough space. Water guns can be fun for kids, too.
Turn the music up enough that anyone who doesn’t mind looking silly can get up and start dancing. Hopefully on surfaces that aren’t too wet and slippery.
Don’t Skimp on Towels
Ideally, everyone will bring what they need but if people forget then it’s up to the host to provide. Nobody wants to share towels, after all. And they’ll inevitably be splashing around in the tub, dripping all over the surrounding places, drinks most likely will be spilled, that sort of stuff. So make sure you have a lot of towels on hand.
